ALLISON SIDEL, Ph.D.
I am a licensed psychologist located in New Milford, CT. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed my post-doctoral residency at the Village for Families and Children in Hartford, where I worked with children and families in the foster care system. As part of my graduate work, I also trained at New-York Presbyterian Hospital (Westchester Division), The Pleasantville Cottage School, and Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. I am licensed in both Connecticut and New York State and also hold a PSYPACT Authorization to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) Certificate.
Before pursuing my graduate studies, I worked for a number of years assisting parents in finding child care and working as a parent educator; I also coordinated psychiatric research at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. I earned undergraduate degrees in Child Development and Spanish from Tufts University.
In the past I specialized in psychological assessment and evaluations and found it extremely fulfilling to ‘connect the dots’ and help parents, children, and adults understand the nature of their learning, behavioral, social and/or emotional difficulties. In recent years I have returned to practicing psychotherapy exclusively and can truly say I love my job. I feel a special connection with each of my patients - whether we started our work together in person or over video sessions - and am privileged to be part of such important process and change in their lives.
